Increasing fluency in literacy to be prepared for a rapidly evolving world.

ELA education builds essential cognitive and language skills that ensure middle and secondary students can effectively understand, analyze, and communicate complex information.

West Virginia is increasing proficiency in reading, writing, speaking and listening, and language skills. For middle and secondary students, this includes word study, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and writing. Improvement of these skills support students in preparing for college and successful careers, as well as becoming empowered and informed consumers.
