Flanagan Resigns from State Board of Education
CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Jeffrey D. Flanagan of Kanawha County has tendered his resignation as a member of the West Virginia State Board of Education effective immediately.
In a letter received by Gov. Jim Justice on Thursday, Flanagan said, “After many days and hours of prayer, I have decided that I am not able to truly dedicate my full attention to this position. My job and family must be my priorities at this time. During my time on the board this past 14 months I have grown to appreciate your love for our state and the education of our children.”
Gov. Justice issued the following statement on Flanagan’s resignation.
“On behalf of the people of the state of West Virginia I wish to thank Jeff Flanagan for the public service he provided during his tenure as a member of the State Board of Education. I truly appreciate the time and effort he put forth to help better our education system.”
No replacement for Flanagan has been selected at this time.
