Internal Soft Launch and Feature Updates

Topic
Release Notes

The Communications team is "soft launching" the new WVDE.us for internal review today. Our team has worked to modernize our digital publishing standards, processes, and technology platforms for two years and is excited to bring this project to a wider audience.

A phased launch schedule is planned to allow organization leaders to communicate changes to users who depend on wvde.us services. A week-long soft launch is open to WVDE employees followed by a publicly available soft launch announced on wvde.us. An official hard-launch, wherein the old wvde.us is archived and replaced, will occur in mid-February guided by feedback during the soft launch phases.

Release Notes

Our development team regularly deploys new features and bugfixes to wvde.us and we'll publish the biggest highlights in articles like these.

File Upload Issues

Users reported being unable to upload files to the CMS recently and we discovered that our hosting platform doesn't support the DropZoneJS library being used to improve the upload experience. We've removed DropzoneJS library, fixing file uploads. The upload interface now looks different but will perform as intended.

Date and Time Formatting for Articles

Previously, the Published Date field was configured to display military time and a shortened MM/DD/YYYY format. We've updated this to use a "January 22, 2025" format without the time.

Flexible Page Previews

Users no longer need to save a Flexible Page in order to visualize their content updates. When editing, use the "Preview" button to see your updates before saving them and creating a revision.

Event Status

Events have a status field which allows us change an event's state from "Scheduled" (the default) to Cancelled, Postponed, or Rescheduled. Previously, events were not displaying this state in teasers or on the full page detail view of an event.

If an event has a status other than "Scheduled" it will display next to the date field values.
