Collegiate Instructor Part-Time Permit

Full Requirements
- Validity Period: 1 year
- General Requirements: US Citizen or hold eligible documentation (see WVBE Policy 5202); good character, age 18
- Education Level: Minimum of a MA degree in the assignment area through an accredited IHE.
- Grade Point Average: Minimum Overall Cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Coursework/Training: Verification of a minimum of three years of college/university teaching experience in the area of the requested endorsement which must be the area of assignment by the employing college/university; and receive the recommendation of the county superintendent verifying that the applicant is the most qualified candidate for the position, and has been offered part-time employment by a county board of education in West Virginia whose local policy provides assurance that such personnel do not replace a fully state-certified educator.

- Employment Required: Yes. the vacancy must have been posted with no certified individuals making application and an offer of employment must be made.

- Official Transcripts (when applicable): To send official transcripts to our office electronically, please have those sent to cert.transcripts.wvde@k12.wv.us. If you select to send them electronically, they must be sent directly from the institution to the Office of Certification.
Renewal
- Validity Period: 1 year
- Credential: Valid Collegiate Instructor Permit, renewing for continued employment in the current position
- Employment Required: Yes. the vacancy must have been posted with no certified individuals making application and an offer of employment must be made.
- Official Recommendation: Superintendent
Application Instructions
If this is your first time applying for a certificate issued by the West Virginia Department of Education, you will need to register. Follow the instructions for first-time applicants.
- Download the application form.
- Fill in the applicant information. Work with your employer and your institute of higher education to get the necessary signatures and supporting documents.
- Pay the application fee online before submitting your application.
- Submit your application and all supporting documentation to the Office of Certification. Please mail to the following address:
