Salary Supplement for ASHA, NMCC, WVBEC, NASP, & NBSCN (Renewal)

Summary of Requirements

You can use Form 43 to request a renewal of a salary supplement if you are 1) employed in the WV public school system, and 2)  hold advanced certification from one of the following:

  • American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA)
  • National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC)
  • West Virginia Board of Examiners in Counseling (WVBEC)
  • National Association of School Psychologists (NASP)
  • National Board for Certification of School Nurses

The salary supplement is $2500. The number of support staff eligible for the supplement is limited by legislative funding. Recipients are determined based on seniority.

Candidate Requirements

  • Have previously been approved for this type of salary supplement
  • US Citizen or hold eligible documentation (see WVBE Policy 5202)
  • Board-certified
  • Hold a professional student support certificate in the appropriate endorsement area
  • Employment in WV public school system 
  • Recommendation from county superintendent

Application Instructions

  1. Download the application form.
  2. Fill in the applicant information. Work with your employer and your board or association to get the necessary signatures and supporting documents. 
  3. Pay the application fee online before submitting your application.
  4. Submit your application and all supporting documentation to the Office of Certification. Please mail to the following address:
