Summary of Requirements
Authorizations may be issued to an individual who either has been hired and assigned to these positions by a West Virginia school system or to those who have completed all requirements for a permanent authorization.
Be physically, mentally, and emotionally qualified.
Education Level: High school diploma or equivalent.
Testing: Pass the current state competency exam for aides developed pursuant to W.Va. Code §18A-4-8e, and submit your commitment of verifying applicant’s agreement to completed Department-approved coursework.
Employment Required: Yes, as a Special Education Assistant Teacher or Behavioral Support Assistant Teacher.

Validity Period: 1 year
