DECA
DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. DECA activities provide members with opportunities to serve in leadership roles, work in teams, and receive local, state, and national recognition.

The mission of the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) is to teach students citizenship, leadership, character, and community service. The core values are at the heart of JROTC, whose creed emphasizes working to better the cadet’s family, school, and country.

The National Technical Honor Society honors the achievements of top CTE students, provides scholarships to encourage the pursuit of higher education, and cultivates excellence in today’s highly competitive, skilled workforce.
ProStart
ProStart is a two-year, industry-backed culinary arts and restaurant management program for high school students. ProStart students finish the program ready to join the workforce and make an immediate impact in restaurants and foodservice. ProStart students are closely connected to industry experts through guest speakers, class mentors, tours of local facilities, hosting student competitions, and more – all to ensure real-world experience is brought directly to the classroom.
SkillsUSA
SkillsUSA empowers its members to become world-class workers, leaders and responsible American citizens. SkillsUSA improves the quality of our nation’s future skilled workforce through the development of SkillsUSA Framework skills that include personal, workplace, and technical skills grounded in academics.
Technology Student Association
Technology Student Association (TSA) fosters personal growth, leadership, and opportunities in technology, innovation, design, and engineering. Members apply and integrate science, technology, engineering and mathematics concepts through co-curricular activities, competitive events, and related programs.
Opportunities
Albert Yanni
The Albert Yanni Scholarship provides high-quality career and technical education (CTE) students an opportunity to pursue advanced education and/or training related to their career aspirations. Scholarships of $2,000.00 each will be awarded to students selected by a committee of West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE) personnel. Applicants selected must present proof that they have maintained their eligibility requirements before awards are presented.
Governors Workforce Credential
The Governor’s Workforce Credential (GWC) signifies a student’s knowledge of business processes within a Simulated Workplace environment. The West Virginia Governor endorses only the top career technical education (CTE) completers in the state for their achievements in academics, technical training, and work readiness.
National Technical Honor Society
The National Technical Honor Society honors the achievements of top CTE students, provides scholarships to encourage the pursuit of higher education and cultivates excellence in today’s highly competitive, skilled workforce.
U.S. Presidential Scholars Program
The U.S. Presidential Scholars Program was established to recognize and honor some of our nation's most distinguished graduating high school seniors. In 2015 the program was extended to recognize students who demonstrate ability and accomplishment in career and technical education fields. Each year, up to 161 students are named Presidential Scholars, one of the nation's highest honors for high school students.
Competitions
High School Business Plan Competition
Our goal for the High School Business Plan Competition is to engage young minds to solve problems in their community, state, or beyond. We provide students the opportunity to pitch their idea to potential investors. Higher education institutions will be present at the final competition with scholarship opportunities.
