The quest for knowledge and understanding of the natural world

Science education is critical to teaching middle and secondary students how to observe, predict, and seek answers about the world they live in. 

Science encourages curiosity, drives innovation, and promotes the problem-solving necessary for sustaining our future. The practices of scientists and engineers – and the scientific themes students connect to – prepare them for the workforce as scientists and in other employment.

Having implemented the three dimensions of science learning, West Virginia provides students with the scientific and technological skills needed to thrive in their chosen college and careers, and to become well-informed citizens of tomorrow.
