West Virginia adopted the WV Seal of Biliteracy during the 2020-21 school year. The Seal of Biliteracy is a nationally recognized award presented to students who demonstrate proficiency in English and at least one other language. Accepted Seal of Biliteracy assessments are outlined on the Seal of Biliteracy Assessments page.
Scores are due by the middle of May of each academic year.
Seal Of Biliteracy Application
The online Seal of Biliteracy application must be submitted, along with assessment scores. Students, teachers, parents, and administrators may coordinate to schedule tests and complete the application.
Notifications of achievement will be sent to the teacher or school system, along with a WV Seal of Biliteracy Certificate and graduation cord for each student. For a detailed explanation of how to interpret assessment scores, see Seal of Biliteracy Scoring and Testing Explanations.
