Provisional Teaching Certificate Renewal

Summary of Requirements

Use this form to renew your Provisional Teaching Certificate if you have not met the requirements for conversion to a Professional Teaching Certificate.

This certificate is valid for one (1) year. You may renew your Provisional Teaching Certificate no more than twice for a total of three (3) years of validity.

Candidate Requirements

To apply, you must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen or hold eligible documentation (see WVBE Policy 5202).
  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Be physically, mentally, and emotionally qualified.
  • Have recommendation from the county Superintendent.
  • Have a satisfactory teacher evaluation during the previous validity period.
  • Be employed in a West Virginia public school district.

 

Application Instructions

  1. Download the Provisional Teaching Certificate form and fill out the required information. 
  2. Pay the processing fee online before submitting your form. 
  3. Submit your application to your employer. Your application must be uploaded by your employer’s human resources office.
