Renewal of the Alternative Teaching Certificate

Applicant Requirements

General Requirements

To apply, you must:

• Be a U.S. citizen or hold eligible documentation (see WVBE Policy 5202).
• Be at least 18 years old.
• Hold a valid Alternative Teaching Certificate.
• Have received a satisfactory teacher evaluation during the previous validity period.
• Have made satisfactory progress in the approved program during the previous validity period.
• Have a recommendation from the county Superintendent.

Application Instructions

1. Download the Renewal of the Alternative Teaching Certificate form and fill out the required information, including your reason for renewal. 
2. Pay the processing fee online before submitting your form. 
3. Submit your application to your employer. Your application must be uploaded by your employer’s human resources office.
