ASVAB

The West Virginia Board of Education’s three Es of career readiness include pursuing employment, education and/or enlistment. The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is an assessment designed to measure developed abilities and predict future academic and occupational success in the military.
Individuals interested in taking the ASVAB may use the following self-help resources or request that a Common Ground mentor help them prepare for the assessment. The assessment may be used to meet the enlistment criteria of the United States Armed Forces.

TutorWV offers West Virginians access to free online tutoring for the ASVAB, ACT, SAT and other assessments via Tutor.com.
Request an ASVAB Mentor
West Virginia residents can request an ASVAB mentor through the Common Ground Partnership:
- WV ASVAB Mentor Request System for Parents of Students at Age 17
- WV ASVAB Mentor Request System for Age 18 and Not Yet Graduated
- WV ASVAB Mentor Request System for Adults (Age 18 and Graduated or Acquired GED)
Important Notes about requesting a mentor
By submitting a request for a mentor, you're accepting that you'll be contacted by military-based organizations about military career paths. You also accept that your assigned mentor may be from Common Ground partner organizations or a member of the community unaffiliated with Common Ground. While Common Ground partners do their best to find a mentor for everyone who submits a request, requests depend on the availability of personnel, resources and other factors. Those who submit a request are not guaranteed being assigned a mentor.
